 Program Overview

Type of School: a private college preparatory middle and high school; grades 6-12.

Accreditation: St. Croix is recognized by the State of Minnesota Department of Education and accredited by the Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association.

Location: St. Croix High School is located in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota; Population 2,700,000; our beautiful 30-acre campus is bordered by a lake and a park, and is within minutes of many university campuses including the University of Minnesota.

School enrollment: 400 students, 75 International Students from 8 different countries; student/teacher ratio of 14/1.

Housing for Students: There are two student residences that house 97 students; both American and International students live in the residences; adult supervisors live in the residences and are on duty 24/7.

Guardianship: Guardianship and advisory services are available. An International Advisor supports all international students with day-to-day needs, communicates with parents, assists with necessary medical needs, and more.

Transportation: Twin Cities International Airport is 20 minutes from school; St. Paul downtown is 5 minutes away; Minneapolis downtown is 20 minutes away; the Mall of America – largest shopping mall in USA – is 20 minutes away; hospital is 5 minutes away

Flight Information: Flights from all over the world arrive at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport

School year calendar: Classes begin August 31, 2009 and end June 4, 2010

ESL Courses available: Two levels of English Second Language Courses are offered as well as ESL U.S. History and ESL Heath

College Prep Coursework: Courses in math, science, English, history, computer science, music, art, world languages, advanced placement and accelerated courses are taught in preparation for college entrance.

Academic/College Guidance: Special assistance is given for course planning and college/university planning and preparation; assistance is available in making visits to university campuses.

Academic Help Available: After school tutoring is available; scheduled study halls with supervision in the evenings; TOEFL and SAT/ACT prep classes are offered on campus.

Activities and Athletics:  Students are encouraged to participate in activities outside the classroom. Interscholastic and club athletics include cross-country, cheerleading, football, soccer, volleyball, hockey, basketball, dance team, wrestling, baseball, swimming, golf, softball, track & field, tennis. Many students participate in drama, journalism, speech team, jazz band, select singing groups, math competitions, peer listeners, National Honor Society, Student Council, and service opportunities. Special weekend activities and cultural outings, a mentoring program and a study club are also available for student participation.

Average ACT Results: St. Croix graduate score – 23; Minnesota student score – 22; USA score – 21

Total Costs: $22,100 – includes application fee, enrollment fee, tuition, and residence fees (including meals) for one complete school year.
