Consumer Math


This course looks at how math affects today’s consumer, with a special emphasis on problem-solving skills. Topics include taxes, wages and commissions; charge accounts; savings and checking accounts; buying houses and cars; and loans and mortgages.
Prerequisite: None

Pre-Algebra


This course prepares students for Algebra I and reinforces fundamental math skills. Students learn to use variables in formulas, solve equations, solve problems and interpret data.
Prerequisite: None

Algebra I


Students explore mathematical concepts with an emphasis on variables, equations, and graphs of linear functions. These skills are then applied to real-life situations.
Prerequisite: None

Geometry


This course presents plane and solid geometry, triangle congruence and similarity and the study of the properties of circles through deductive reasoning and problem application.
Prerequisite: Algebra I
Two semesters

Accelerated Geometry


Students learn about geometric shapes, the properties of these shapes, and the measurements associated with them for everyday application.
Prerequisite: Algebra I
Two semesters

Algebra II and Trigonometry

This course introduces complex numbers and trigonometry, including additional study of functions and relations.
Prerequisite: Algebra I
Two semesters

Accelerated Algebra II and Trigonometry

This course introduces complex numbers and trigonometry, including additional study of functions and relations. This course moves at a faster pace and goes into greater depth than Algebra II.
Prerequisite: Algebra I

Computer Programming in C++


Students learn the C++ operating system, syntax and logic skills needed for problem solving. Students design algorithms, write code, enter and debug programs as they learn how to make the computer solve a variety of problems. Top-down modular programming style is used.
Prerequisites: Algebra I and II; some computer literacy

Precalculus and Trigonometry


This course includes advanced topics in trigonometry, analytical geometry, polynomials, functions and relations. Students also study counting theory, vectors, probability, sequences, series and complex numbers.
Prerequisite: Accelerated Algebra II and Trigonometry
Two semesters

AP Calculus AB


This course, a college equivalent, prepares students for the AP exam. Topics covered include functions, limits, the derivative, the anti-derivative, finite integrals, and applications of these areas in problem settings. Students use trigonometry and various functions extensively. Topics are taught in an analytical geometry setting.
Prerequisite: Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry
Two semesters

AP Calculus BC


This college-level course teaches techniques and applications of integration, including l’Hopital’s Rule, improper integrals and partial fractions. Students also learn infinite series such as Power and Taylor Series.
Prerequisite: AP Calculus AB
